Dometic Fridge Catch Repair
The Dometic RMTD8505 has a latching mechanism operated by a long rod pushing down on an unlatching finger protruding from the Latch Mechanism itself. This finger is quite weak and snaps frequently. I have designed and 3D printed a much stronger one giving special attention to the area that snaps around the pivot. You will need to carefully dismantle your latch to remove the old finger and fit the new replacement. The images below will help you remember how it goes back together, because when you take yours apart, bits can often fly everywhere.
This is for the BLACK FINGER only, Not the latch itself. The rest of the latch is usually fine.
